Our client is a highly-regarded, privately-held communications firm sitting at the intersection of business, politics, and policy. They are sought out for their expertise in public affairs, corporate reputation, and social impact. Their clients span Fortune 100 companies in financial, tech, retail, energy & sustainability, plus advocacy groups, nonprofits and progressive political candidates.
They are hiring a Director or Sr. Director of Performance Marketing. In this newly-created role, you will be responsible for shaping how we run direct response programs for a variety of top membership associations, corporate (B2B & B2C), non-profit and advocacy clients, both in a strategic and implementation capacity. You will work hand-in-hand with client service, creative, media, buying, and marketing analytics team members to own the deployment of successful performance marketing efforts. Long term, you will have the opportunity and potential to manage and run a more focused cross-functional team and help us further build and scale. You will be responsible for driving our clients’ return on investment and other core direct response KPIs.
Candidates should be able to work out of the Washington DC office, following a hybrid schedule.
Primary responsibilities include:
The Go-To Performance Marketing Specialist. You will be seen as the performance marketing expert on each major account you touch. You will play a crucial role in working with client services team members to ensure elements of our performance marketing strategy meets and exceeds client goals – from set up to implementation to reporting. You will work with team members to monitor campaign delivery, report on performance, and proactively provide recommendations to ensure campaigns meet and exceed client KPIs from initial acquisition to long-term value goals.
Client Services and Relationship Management: This is a blended client-facing and specialist team management role. You are equally comfortable presenting a strategy to clients and analyzing data and reports. Building off a foundation of your subject matter expertise, you will build relationships with clients to maintain and grow existing and new client relationships. You will work closely with direct reports and members of other departments to ensure timelines and quality expectations for client deliverables.
Devotion to Optimizing the Big to Small: From developing funnel strategies, customer journeys and testing opportunities, you’re constantly working with the team to learn and improve performance. You will develop big-picture funnel marketing communications strategies and customer journeys to help drive overall results. You will help our clients best understand conversion pathways from a contact at the door into a sale with email marketing, content distribution, creative testing, action funnel strategies, landing page best practices, etc. You will identify, manage and deploy testing strategies inclusive of audience, advertising, content and user experience to continuously improve performance.
Building Structure and Scaling Expertise: You are responsible for taking pieces of expertise across the agency, combined with your own, and establishing processes and norms to more effectively and efficiently deliver direct response results to our clients. You will construct and deliver training materials as part of our agency-wide learning curriculum. You will help determine technology, AI, and process solutions to allow us to nimbly and successfully drive results. In this role you will also have the opportunity to further establish your and BPI’s reputation in direct response with case studies and thought leadership.
Desired Skills And Experience
- 8 (Director) 10+ (Sr. Director) years of direct marketing experience, paid media strategy, preferably in a advertising agency, nonprofit, political or corporate communications setting
- Exceptional presentation, writing and analytical skills and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight timelines
- Previous hands-on experience with search, social, and programmatic buying platforms as well as email marketing and SMS programs
- The drive to analyze data and solve problems yourself and the leadership to build a team culture of doing the same
- A proactive and disciplined self-starter with an innate curiosity for learning new things
- A sense of urgency to get things done one time, and on time
- The ability to effectively prioritize projects and produce results in a fast-changing environment
- The ability to contextualize results and present clearly to clients of varying degrees of expertise – from C-Suite to in-house marketing experts
- Exceptionally strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience in Tableau or Datorama
Benefits
Our client offers a comprehensive total compensation package for this role to include: For Director, base salary of $110-150K. For Sr. Director, a targeted minimum base salary of $150,000. Plus, an annual discretionary bonus, and generous benefits. Actual base and bonus compensation will be determined by a wide variety of factors, such as skillset, level of experience, and other qualifications.
