Job Description
Digital marketing agency that specializes in political, advocacy & nonprofit is seeking a full-time full time Digital VP, Paid Media. In this position, you will guide the development of the Media team and ensure that high quality standards are met from planning to execution. You will lead the media team to produce deliverables and provide client quality assurance.
The ideal candidate is an experienced digital strategist and tactician who is passionate about politics and the media world. They have their finger on the pulse of what’s new in ad tech, love data, and are committed to developing company best practices for media planning and ad buying.
This is a Washington, D.C. based agency, open to fully remote for the right candidate.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Standardizes and implements ad buying and media planning procedures company-wide and revisits/updates as appropriate
- Standardizes media planning best practices for a variety of objectives, including persuasion, GOTV, engagement, influencer targeting and direct response
- Develops, updates and trains staff on the agency’s templates, including reports and media plans
- Actively participates in senior staff discussions and is willing to take the lead on senior staff projects
- Participates in the business development process and assists with proposals and pitches as needed
- Sets department objectives in terms of key performance metrics (KPIs) and holds staff accountable for meeting them
- Develops workflows between departments and ensures inter-department efficiency
- Works closely with accounting department to develop, monitor and improve processes related to client and vendor payments for media buys
- Identifies opportunities for departmental grown and advocates for resources as appropriate
- Sets and meets department staffing objectives
- Works with Operations to manage hiring process for new department staff
- Trains and supervises media planning and ad ops teams
- Develops and oversees internal media planning processes
- Develops systems for department to ensure timeline expectations are met and manages the day-to-day of all department deliverables
- Develops systems and processes to keep department on track
- Ensures new staff are properly onboarded and trained
- Develops relationships with vendors, evaluates new products and educates staff on ad tech
- Reviews cross-client data and researches industry benchmarks to determine and recommend best practices
- Develops data visualizations to enhance reporting
- Oversees, implements and works with vendor to troubleshoot reporting tools
- identifies opportunities to optimize advertising programs through testing
- Participates in buying calls with clients and traditional media firms as necessary to ensure plans complement the full range of paid media the client is employing
Desired Skills And Experience
- Five or more years of relevant media planning and/or buying experience
- At least two years of staff management experience
- Political experience such as one or more election cycles of digital work at a campaign, party committee, or political action committee, or similar non-profit experience is desired
- Experience interfacing with multiple clients and participating in business development
- Competency with Mac and PC computers including troubleshooting and basic networking knowledge
- Demonstrated commitment to Democratic candidates and causes
- Strong knowledge of ad buying platforms including Facebook, Google AdWords and Google DBM
- Deep understanding of programmatic ad buying
- Ability to effectively assess ad networks as the relate to client goals
- Ability to build positive, professional relationships with vendors
- Ability to handle personnel and performance issues tactfully and effectively
- Strong analytic ability
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects when assigned
- Must have superior project and time management capabilities within a fast paced, high productivity environment
- Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and effectively communicate and solve practical problems or issues
- Able to work and communicate within a team structure while able to work independently with minimal supervision
