This role requires someone capable of running full-charge bookkeeping for multiple clients, as well as financial reporting and clean-up work. It’s not just transaction entry and reconciliation; it’s about flexing your brain muscles with concepts like prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, class tracking, sales tax entries, payroll and payroll tax, cash vs. accrual, and journal entries.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Maintain and update accounting data in QuickBooks for various clients, including account reconciliations, journal entries, sales tax filings, and generating 1099s/W-2s.
- Prepare month-end closing and year-end adjusting entries, along with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Process payroll and tax payments for multiple clients, managing updates, terminations, and benefit withholdings.
- Detect and reconcile payroll and payroll tax payment issues, file quarterly payroll tax returns.
- Cultivate strong, professional relationships with clients, through responsiveness, problem-solving and education.
Desired Skills And Experience
- 3+ years of experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper in an accounting firm or other environment with multiple clients.
- Deep knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, including AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Bonus if you’ve obtained a bookkeeping certification through NACPB, AIPB, or Intuit.
- Expertise in transaction entry using GAAP, functional expense allocation, reconciliation, and financial report analysis.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), Microsoft Excel, and other cloud-based accounting software (Xero, ADP, Gusto, Melio, Bill.com, etc.).
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities across several clients; You may touch 15 client files/month.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, the emotional intelligence, and the professionalism to inspire trust with clients.
- Comfortable in a team-oriented environment, taking direction from peers and supervisors.
- Experience with the unique funding, operational goals, and reporting requirements of nonprofits is highly desirable.
